Moving it Forward

I'm in love with these cute little four patches that I'm making for my next Free Four all Quilt. With all the fun ways to arrange it I never seem to get tired of making them.
So I've been busy chain, chain, chaining them through my machine. Until recently I would use a small pair of scissors to snip the threads between each four patch.
But at Quilt Walk a couple of ladies had this really cool devise. It serves the same purpose as seam rippers set on end but much safer. The blade is recessed so your not going to stab yourself. I'm so pleased to have discovered it. Sure makes cutting those threads so much faster.
Helped me whip out all these blocks.
Now it's your turn. What have you been moving along?

  1. I had seen that little device on a couple blogs now and then in the photos glad to hear it works, I might have to check it out next time I have to order something.

  2. This is a great way to use up squares... I cut 1 1/2" squares from leftover fabrics. And 2.5". Must think about making one of these. I love the variety of layouts one can use. Thanks for the links to the directions.

  3. I didn't realize there were so many settings for that block. I've made a double four patch which looks similar but never even thought of mixing one up like Free Four All. Nice!

  11. Four patches are therapy, I swear. That's my go-to for watching a show while stitching. I paged through a new book last night pairing brights with black, and saw it in a new light. Then to see you matching the same really solidified it. Thank you for the beautiful visual. I needed that!
